Jagmeet Singh Dhaliwal is a Member of Provincial Parliament first elected in 2011 and the Deputy Leader for Ontario’s New Democratic Party. Jagmeet is the first turbaned Sikh MPP in Ontario.
He obtained his B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Western Ontario in 2001 and his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 2005. He was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2006. Prior to joining public office he was a trial lawyer practicing in the Brampton and Mississauga area. He has always been a strong voice for vulnerable people and vocal on a number of human rights issues.
As an MPP, Jagmeet Singh championed the demand for a province-wide reduction of auto insurance rates and is raising awareness about the precarious employment conditions created by temporary job agencies. In addition to standing up for the people in Ontario, Jagmeet has been a fierce advocate, speaking out on various human rights issues around the world.
